Outreach Activities:

May 2023: IDEAL / Mathcircles High School Teacher Workshop

IDEAL and our partners at Mathcircles of Chicago will be hosting a one-day workshop for high school teachers, high school students, university faculty, and graduate students. IDEAL faculty will give presentations on current themes in Data Science, while teachers will give presentations on effective strategies to engage high school students in the classroom. The event will provide an opportunity to hear about the programs Mathcircles of Chicago runs and to make new connections between Chicago-area high schools and universities.

June 2023: IDEAL Get Ready for Research Workshop

IDEAL will be hosting a 3-day pre-REU workshop for undergraduate students from around the country. This workshop, aimed at 1st and 2nd year undergraduates, will introduce students to the practicalities of research, current research areas in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, and statistics, and help prepare them to apply for and thrive in REU programs in future years.
